The King of the Forest

If you see a giant tree with branches that have roots hanging down to touch the ground, that is a **Banyan Tree** (Vat Vriksha). In India, people treat this tree like a wise old grandfather.
यदि आप एक विशाल पेड़ देखते हैं जिसकी शाखाओं से जड़ें नीचे जमीन को छू रही हैं, तो वह एक **बरगद का पेड़** (वट वृक्ष) है। भारत में लोग इस पेड़ के साथ एक बुद्धिमान बूढ़े दादाजी जैसा व्यवहार करते हैं।
The Banyan tree is special because it never stops growing. Its hanging roots eventually become new trunks, supporting the tree and helping it spread wider and wider. Some Banyan trees are so large that thousands of people can sit under their shade at the same time!
बरगद का पेड़ इसलिए खास है क्योंकि यह कभी बढ़ना बंद नहीं करता। इसकी लटकती जड़ें अंततः नए तने बन जाती हैं, जो पेड़ को सहारा देती हैं और उसे और अधिक फैलने में मदद करती हैं। कुछ बरगद के पेड़ इतने बड़े होते हैं कि हजारों लोग एक साथ उनकी छाया में बैठ सकते हैं!
Because it lives for so long and keeps spreading, it is a symbol of **Eternal Life**. In many stories, it is said that Lord Shiva and the great sages sit under the Banyan tree to meditate. It is a tree that only gives—it gives shade, it gives oxygen, it gives a home to birds and monkeys, and it asks for nothing in return.
चूंकि यह इतने लंबे समय तक जीवित रहता है और फैलता रहता है, इसलिए यह **अनंत जीवन** का प्रतीक है। कई कहानियों में कहा गया है कि भगवान शिव और महान ऋषि ध्यान करने के लिए बरगद के पेड़ के नीचे बैठते हैं। यह एक ऐसा पेड़ है जो केवल देता है—यह छाया देता है, यह ऑक्सीजन देता है, यह पक्षियों और बंदरों को घर देता है, और बदले में कुछ नहीं मांगता।
When we pray to the Banyan tree, we are thanking nature for its kindness. The tree teaches us that as we grow older and stronger, we should also use our 'branches' to help and support those who are smaller than us.
जब हम बरगद के पेड़ की पूजा करते हैं, तो हम प्रकृति को उसकी दयालुता के लिए धन्यवाद दे रहे होते हैं। पेड़ हमें सिखाता है कि जैसे-जैसे हम बड़े और मजबूत होते हैं, हमें भी अपनी 'शाखाओं' का उपयोग उन लोगों की मदद और समर्थन के लिए करना चाहिए जो हमसे छोटे हैं।
