The Secret of the Orange Hero

One morning in the palace of Ayodhya, Hanuman saw Mother Sita putting a small pinch of orange powder (**Sindoor**) on her forehead. Hanuman was curious and asked, 'Mata, why are you putting that orange mark on your head?'

अयोध्या के महल में एक सुबह, हनुमान ने माता सीता को अपने माथे पर थोड़ा सा नारंगी पाउडर (**सिंदूर**) लगाते हुए देखा। हनुमान उत्सुक थे और उन्होंने पूछा, 'माता, आप अपने सिर पर वह नारंगी निशान क्यों लगा रही हैं?'

Sita smiled and replied, 'Hanuman, this is for the long life and well-being of my Lord Rama. By wearing this, I show my love and prayer for his safety.'

सीता मुस्कुराईं और उत्तर दिया, 'हनुमान, यह मेरे भगवान राम की लंबी उम्र और भलाई के लिए है। इसे पहनकर, मैं उनकी सुरक्षा के लिए अपना प्रेम और प्रार्थना प्रकट करती हूँ।'

Hanuman's eyes widened. He started thinking, 'If a small pinch of sindoor on the forehead can give my Lord Rama a long life, then what if I cover my entire body with it? He will live forever!'

हनुमान की आँखें फटी रह गईं। उन्होंने सोचना शुरू किया, 'अगर माथे पर थोड़ा सा सिंदूर लगाने से मेरे भगवान राम को लंबी उम्र मिल सकती है, तो क्या होगा अगर मैं अपने पूरे शरीर को इससे ढँक लूँ? वे हमेशा के लिए जीवित रहेंगे!'

Without wasting a second, Hanuman went and found a large bowl of orange sindoor. He smeared it all over his fur—on his face, his arms, his tail, and his feet. He looked like a giant orange monkey!

एक सेकंड भी बर्बाद किए बिना, हनुमान गए और नारंगी सिंदूर का एक बड़ा कटोरा ढूंढ लिया। उन्होंने इसे अपने पूरे बालों पर—अपने चेहरे पर, अपनी बाहों पर, अपनी पूँछ पर और अपने पैरों पर मल लिया। वे एक विशाल नारंगी बंदर की तरह दिख रहे थे!

When he walked into the royal court, everyone started laughing. Lord Rama asked, 'Hanuman, why have you colored yourself like this?'

जब वे राजदरबार में पहुँचे, तो हर कोई हँसने लगा। भगवान राम ने पूछा, 'हनुमान, तुमने खुद को इस तरह क्यों रंगा है?'

Hanuman replied innocently, 'Lord, Sita Mata told me that sindoor gives you a long life. So I put it everywhere to make sure you are safe forever!'

हनुमान ने मासूमियत से जवाब दिया, 'प्रभु, सीता माता ने मुझे बताया कि सिंदूर आपको लंबी उम्र देता है। इसलिए मैंने इसे हर जगह लगाया है ताकि यह सुनिश्चित हो सके कि आप हमेशा सुरक्षित रहें!'

Lord Rama was moved to tears by Hanuman's pure and simple heart. He stopped laughing, hugged Hanuman, and blessed him. 'Because of your devotion, anyone who offers orange sindoor to you will be blessed by me as well,' Rama promised.

हनुमान के शुद्ध और सरल हृदय को देखकर भगवान राम की आँखों में आँसू आ गए। उन्होंने हँसना बंद कर दिया, हनुमान को गले लगाया और उन्हें आशीर्वाद दिया। 'तुम्हारी भक्ति के कारण, जो कोई भी तुम्हें नारंगी सिंदूर अर्पित करेगा, उसे मेरा भी आशीर्वाद प्राप्त होगा,' राम ने वादा किया।
