Worshipping the Little Goddesses

On the eighth or ninth day of Navratri, a very special ceremony takes place in many homes. It is called Kanya Pujan or Kanjak. Families invite nine little girls to their house and treat them with great respect.

नवरात्रि के आठवें या नौवें दिन, कई घरों में एक बहुत ही विशेष समारोह होता है। इसे कन्या पूजन या कंजक कहा जाता है। परिवार अपने घर में नौ छोटी लड़कियों को आमंत्रित करते हैं और उनके साथ बड़े सम्मान से पेश आते हैं।

But why? Because in Hinduism, we believe that little girls are the purest form of Goddess Durga herself! Before she became the giant warrior, she was a small, innocent child. By worshipping little girls, we are actually worshipping the Mother Goddess.

लेकिन क्यों? क्योंकि हिंदू धर्म में, हमारा मानना है कि छोटी लड़कियां स्वयं देवी दुर्गा का सबसे शुद्ध रूप हैं! एक विशाल योद्धा बनने से पहले, वे एक छोटी, मासूम बच्ची थीं। छोटी लड़कियों की पूजा करके, हम वास्तव में माता देवी की पूजा कर रहे होते हैं।

People wash the girls' feet, put a red 'tilak' on their foreheads, and tie a colorful thread on their wrists. Then, they serve them a tasty meal of Halwa, Puri, and Chana. Finally, the girls are given small gifts and some money (Dakshina).

लोग लड़कियों के पैर धोते हैं, उनके माथे पर लाल 'तिलक' लगाते हैं और उनकी कलाई पर रंगीन धागा बांधते हैं। फिर, वे उन्हें हलवा, पूरी और चना का स्वादिष्ट भोजन परोसते हैं। अंत में, लड़कियों को छोटे उपहार और कुछ पैसे (दक्षिणा) दिए जाते हैं।

This beautiful tradition teaches us that we should always respect and protect girls. It reminds us that every girl has the power and the spark of Maa Durga inside her.

यह सुंदर परंपरा हमें सिखाती है कि हमें हमेशा लड़कियों का सम्मान और रक्षा करनी चाहिए। यह हमें याद दिलाता है कि हर लड़की के अंदर माँ दुर्गा की शक्ति और चमक होती है।
