When we see pictures of Mata Durga, we are always amazed! She sits on a fierce lion and has ten hands. Have you ever wondered why she needs so many hands?
जब हम माता दुर्गा के चित्र देखते हैं, तो हम हमेशा चकित रह जाते हैं! वह एक भयंकर शेर पर बैठती हैं और उनके दस हाथ होते हैं। क्या आपने कभी सोचा है कि उन्हें इतने सारे हाथों की आवश्यकता क्यों है?
When a terrible buffalo demon named Mahishasura was destroying the world, no single God could stop him. So, all the Gods (Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva) combined their energy to create Durga. Each God gave her a special weapon for her ten hands.
जब महिषासुर नाम का एक भयानक भैंस राक्षस दुनिया को नष्ट कर रहा था, तो कोई भी भगवान उसे नहीं रोक सका। इसलिए, सभी देवताओं (ब्रह्मा, विष्णु और शिव) ने दुर्गा को बनाने के लिए अपनी ऊर्जा को मिला दिया। प्रत्येक देवता ने उनके दस हाथों के लिए एक विशेष हथियार दिया।
But these ten hands have a deeper meaning! There are ten directions in the universe (North, South, East, West, the four corners, up, and down). Her ten hands mean that the Mother Goddess is protecting us from all ten directions at the same time!
लेकिन इन दस हाथों का गहरा अर्थ है! ब्रह्मांड में दस दिशाएँ हैं (उत्तर, दक्षिण, पूर्व, पश्चिम, चार कोने, ऊपर और नीचे)। उनके दस हाथों का मतलब है कि माता देवी एक ही समय में सभी दस दिशाओं से हमारी रक्षा कर रही हैं!
The weapons she holds also teach us important lessons. The Sword represents sharp knowledge to cut through ignorance. The Lotus flower tells us to stay pure and smiling, even when surrounded by muddy problems.
उनके हाथ में जो हथियार हैं वे हमें महत्वपूर्ण सबक भी सिखाते हैं। तलवार अज्ञानता को दूर करने के लिए तेज ज्ञान का प्रतिनिधित्व करती है। कमल का फूल हमें शुद्ध और मुस्कुराते रहने के लिए कहता है, भले ही हम कीचड़ जैसी समस्याओं से घिरे हों।
The Bow and Arrow represent focus and energy, while the Trident (Trishul) destroys physical, mental, and spiritual pain. She uses all these 'weapons' not to scare us, but to destroy the bad habits inside our minds!
