When the Mother Became Fierce

Long ago, a terrible dark demon named Raktabija terrorized the earth. Through severe penance, he had won a dangerous boon: whenever a single drop of his blood spilled upon the ground, a brand-new, fully armed clone of Raktabija would instantly sprout from the earth!

बहुत समय पहले, रक्तबीज नाम के एक भयानक असुर ने धरती पर उत्पात मचा रखा था। उसने एक ऐसा विचित्र वरदान पा लिया था कि उसके शरीर से खून की एक भी बूंद अगर जमीन पर गिरेगी, तो उस बूंद से तुरंत एक और नया बलवान रक्तबीज पैदा हो जाएगा!

During the great cosmic battle, whenever the deities struck him, thousands of drops of blood fell, and within minutes, millions of roaring demon clones filled the battlefield. Exhausted and surrounded, the gods prayed to Goddess Durga for salvation.

युद्ध के मैदान में जब भी देवता उस पर प्रहार करते, उसके रक्त की हजारों बूंदें जमीन पर गिरतीं और पल भर में लाखों नए राक्षस खड़े हो जाते। थककर और घिरकर देवताओं ने रक्षा के लिए माता दुर्गा की पुकार की।

Goddess Durga's brow furrowed with righteous anger at the persistent evil. From the third eye upon her forehead, there burst forth a ferocious, awe-inspiring protector: Goddess Kali, dark as the midnight sky, with blazing eyes and an unshakeable roar of victory.

अधर्म के इस अंधकार को देखकर माता दुर्गा के माथे से एक प्रचंड तेज फूटा, और उसमें से साक्षात मां काली प्रकट हुईं—आधी रात जैसी श्यामल, अंगारों जैसी चमकती आंखों वाली और सिंह जैसी गर्जना करने वाली।

Maa Kali charged into the fray with unmatched speed. As Durga struck down the demon, Kali spread her colossal tongue across the earth, catching every single drop of blood before it could touch the dust, completely halting the demon's multiplication until evil was forever eradicated.

मां काली अद्भुत वेग से आगे बढ़ीं। जैसे ही माता दुर्गा ने उस असुर पर प्रहार किया, मां काली ने अपनी विशाल जिह्वा फैलाकर रक्त की एक-एक बूंद को हवा में ही पी लिया, जिससे एक भी नया राक्षस नहीं बन सका और बुराई का समूल नाश हो गया।

Overcome with the ecstasy of victory, Kali danced a mighty dance of destruction that shook the mountains. To calm her furious rhythm and save the cosmos, Lord Shiva gently laid himself down in her path.

विजय के उल्लास में मां काली का रौद्र नृत्य चलने लगा जिससे धरती डोलने लगी। उनके क्रोध को शांत करने और सृष्टि को बचाने के लिए भगवान शिव चुपचाप उनके मार्ग में लेट गए।

The moment Kali’s foot touched her beloved Shiva's chest, she stopped in sudden surprise, realizing who it was. In affectionate embarrassment, she bit her tongue. The fierce storm dissolved into serene peace, teaching us that while evil must be eradicated fiercely, love and awareness always restore calm to the world.

जैसे ही मां काली का चरण भगवान शिव के सीने पर पड़ा, वे अचानक ठिठक गईं। अपने स्वामी को नीचे देखकर वे लज्जा और स्नेह से भर गईं और उन्होंने जीभ दबा ली। सारा क्रोध शांत हो गया, जो सिखाता है कि बुराई का संहार आवश्यक है, लेकिन अंततः प्रेम और शांति ही सृष्टि का संतुलन बनाए रखते हैं।
