How Did Lord Ganesha Get His Elephant Head?

Long ago on Mount Kailash, Mata Parvati wanted to take a bath but there was no one to guard her door. So, using the turmeric paste from her body, she created a beautiful young boy and breathed life into him. This boy was Ganesha!
बहुत समय पहले कैलाश पर्वत पर, माता पार्वती स्नान करना चाहती थीं लेकिन उनके दरवाजे की रक्षा करने के लिए कोई नहीं था। इसलिए, अपने शरीर से हल्दी के लेप का उपयोग करके, उन्होंने एक सुंदर युवा लड़के को बनाया और उसमें जान डाल दी। यह लड़का गणेश था!
Mata Parvati told him, 'You are my dear son. Stand at the door and do not let anyone enter while I am bathing.' Ganesha nodded bravely.
माता पार्वती ने उनसे कहा, 'तुम मेरे प्यारे बेटे हो। दरवाजे पर खड़े रहो और जब तक मैं स्नान कर रही हूँ किसी को अंदर मत आने देना।' गणेश ने बहादुरी से सिर हिलाया।
Soon, Lord Shiva returned home. He wanted to go inside, but little Ganesha stopped him. 'Stop! My mother has forbidden anyone from entering,' Ganesha said.
जल्द ही, भगवान शिव घर लौट आए। वे अंदर जाना चाहते थे, लेकिन छोटे गणेश ने उन्हें रोक दिया। 'रुकिए! मेरी माता ने किसी को भी अंदर जाने से मना किया है,' गणेश ने कहा।
Lord Shiva didn't know this was his son. He grew angry and demanded to enter, but Ganesha stood like a strong mountain. A fierce battle started, and in a moment of anger, Lord Shiva used his trident and accidentally cut off the little boy's head.
भगवान शिव को नहीं पता था कि यह उनका बेटा है। वे क्रोधित हो गए और अंदर जाने की मांग की, लेकिन गणेश एक मजबूत पहाड़ की तरह खड़े रहे। एक भयंकर युद्ध शुरू हो गया, और क्रोध के क्षण में, भगवान शिव ने अपने त्रिशूल का उपयोग किया और गलती से छोटे लड़के का सिर काट दिया।
When Mata Parvati came out and saw her son, she was heartbroken and extremely angry! She threatened to destroy the whole universe if her son was not brought back to life.
जब माता पार्वती बाहर आईं और अपने बेटे को देखा, तो उनका दिल टूट गया और वे बेहद क्रोधित हुईं! उन्होंने धमकी दी कि अगर उनके बेटे को वापस जीवित नहीं किया गया तो वे पूरे ब्रह्मांड को नष्ट कर देंगी।
Realizing his mistake, Lord Shiva quickly sent his followers to bring the head of the first living creature they found sleeping with its head facing North. The followers found a strong, wise elephant and brought its head.
अपनी गलती का एहसास होने पर, भगवान शिव ने जल्दी से अपने अनुयायियों (गणों) को उस पहले जीवित प्राणी का सिर लाने के लिए भेजा जो उत्तर की ओर सिर करके सो रहा हो। अनुयायियों को एक मजबूत, बुद्धिमान हाथी मिला और वे उसका सिर ले आए।
Lord Shiva placed the elephant's head on Ganesha's body and brought him back to life! To calm Mata Parvati, all the Gods blessed the boy. Lord Shiva declared, 'You are Gajanan, the one with the elephant face, and you will be worshipped before all other Gods!'
भगवान शिव ने गणेश के शरीर पर हाथी का सिर रखा और उन्हें वापस जीवित कर दिया! माता पार्वती को शांत करने के लिए, सभी देवताओं ने लड़के को आशीर्वाद दिया। भगवान शिव ने घोषणा की, 'तुम गजानन हो, हाथी के चेहरे वाले, और तुम्हारी पूजा अन्य सभी देवताओं से पहले की जाएगी!'
