The Power of Listening

Ganesha's ears are very large, like big winnowing fans (Sup). They are so big that they can hear even the smallest whisper of a devotee from far away.

गणेश जी के कान बहुत बड़े हैं, जैसे बड़े सूप। वे इतने बड़े हैं कि वे दूर से भी किसी भक्त की छोटी सी फुसफुसाहट भी सुन सकते हैं।

But why are they so giant? It's a secret message for all of us. Ganesha says, 'To become truly wise, you must listen to everything and everyone. Listen to your parents, your teachers, and even the sounds of nature.'

लेकिन वे इतने विशाल क्यों हैं? यह हम सभी के लिए एक गुप्त संदेश है। गणेश जी कहते हैं, 'सचमुच बुद्धिमान बनने के लिए, आपको हर चीज और हर किसी की बात सुननी चाहिए। अपने माता-पिता, अपने शिक्षकों और यहाँ तक कि प्रकृति की आवाज़ों को भी सुनें।'

By having big ears and a small mouth, Bappa teaches us that we should listen twice as much as we speak! When we listen, we gain knowledge. When we speak too much, we sometimes lose it.

बड़े कान और छोटा मुँह होने से बाप्पा हमें सिखाते हैं कि हमें जितना बोलना चाहिए उससे दोगुना सुनना चाहिए! जब हम सुनते हैं, तो हमें ज्ञान प्राप्त होता है। जब हम बहुत अधिक बोलते हैं, तो हम कभी-कभी उसे खो देते हैं।

And just like a winnowing fan separates the good grain from the dust, Ganesha's big ears help him keep the good words and throw away the bad ones. He only listens to the good things!

और जिस तरह एक सूप धूल से अच्छे अनाज को अलग करता है, वैसे ही गणेश जी के बड़े कान उन्हें अच्छे शब्दों को रखने और बुरे शब्दों को बाहर फेंकने में मदद करते हैं। वह केवल अच्छी बातें ही सुनते हैं!
