The Simple God on the Snowy Peak

In the Hindu religion, most Gods live in beautiful, glowing palaces. Lord Indra lives in a heavenly city, and Lord Vishnu rests on a giant serpent in the ocean of milk. But Lord Shiva, the most powerful of all, lives on top of a freezing, snowy mountain called Mount Kailash!

Lord Shiva smiled warmly. He explained that a palace requires many servants, a lot of money, and constant care to keep it clean and safe. 'When you have a lot of things, you spend all your time worrying about them,' he said.

Mount Kailash is silent, pure, and far away from the noisy world. Because Lord Shiva has no expensive things to protect, his mind is completely free to meditate deeply and send peaceful energy to the whole universe.
