Long ago, when Goddess Parvati was performing intense meditation on the icy peaks of the Himalayas, a hungry wild lion roamed the crags in search of prey. Sighting the solitary goddess seated peacefully with eyes closed, the lion crouched, preparing to leap and devour her.

बहुत समय पहले जब माता पार्वती हिमालय की बर्फीली चोटियों पर घोर तपस्या कर रही थीं, तो एक भूखा जंगली शेर शिकार की तलाश में भटक रहा था। आंखें मूंदे शांत बैठी देवी को देखकर वह उन पर झपटने की तैयारी करने लगा।

Yet, as the beast drew closer, an overwhelming aura of pure love, serene tranquility, and divine peace washed over him. The lion’s hunger dissolved; his ferocious instincts melted away like mountain snow in spring.

लेकिन जैसे ही वह पास आया, देवी के तपोबल और दिव्य प्रेम की ऐसी शांत तरंगें उस पर पड़ीं कि उसकी भूख और क्रूरता पल भर में पिघल गई।

Instead of attacking, the lion lay down quietly beside her feet, guarding her against blizzards and wild beasts through years of penance. When the Goddess opened her eyes, she saw the faithful creature keeping watch.

हमला करने के बजाय वह शेर चुपचाप उनके चरणों में बैठ गया और सालों तक आंधी-तूफान में एक रक्षक की तरह उनकी रखवाली करता रहा। जब देवी ने अपनी आंखें खोलीं, तो उन्होंने उस वफादार जीव को पहरा देते पाया।

Touched by the lion’s patient devotion, the Goddess blessed him: 'You have shared in my penance. From this day forward, you shall be my eternal mount, sharing in all my glory and worship.' The story teaches us that unconditional love has the power to transform even the wildest heart into a gentle, noble guardian.
