Diwali: The Festival of Lights
“Why do we light so many Diyas and eat sweets on Diwali? ✨🪔”
A long time ago, a very good and brave prince named Lord Rama lived in the city of Ayodhya. Because of a promise his father made, Rama had to leave his kingdom and live in the forest for 14 years.
बहुत समय पहले, अयोध्या शहर में भगवान राम नाम के एक बहुत अच्छे और बहादुर राजकुमार रहते थे। अपने पिता के एक वादे के कारण, राम को अपना राज्य छोड़ना पड़ा और 14 वर्षों तक जंगल में रहना पड़ा।
His loving wife, Mata Sita, and his loyal brother, Lakshmana, went with him. They lived a simple life in the forest. But one day, a terrible demon king named Ravana kidnapped Mata Sita!
उनकी प्यारी पत्नी माता सीता और उनके वफादार भाई लक्ष्मण भी उनके साथ गए। उन्होंने जंगल में सादा जीवन बिताया। लेकिन एक दिन, रावण नाम के एक भयानक राक्षस राजा ने माता सीता का अपहरण कर लिया!
Lord Rama was heartbroken. With the help of his greatest devotee, Lord Hanuman, and an army of monkeys, Rama built a bridge across the ocean to Ravana's kingdom of Lanka.
भगवान राम का दिल टूट गया। अपने सबसे बड़े भक्त भगवान हनुमान और वानरों की एक सेना की मदद से, राम ने समुद्र के पार रावण के राज्य लंका तक एक पुल बनाया।
A great war was fought. Finally, Lord Rama defeated the evil Ravana using his powerful bow and rescued Mata Sita.
एक महायुद्ध लड़ा गया। अंततः, भगवान राम ने अपने शक्तिशाली धनुष का उपयोग करके दुष्ट रावण को हरा दिया और माता सीता को बचा लिया।
When their 14 years in the forest were over, Rama, Sita, and Lakshmana returned to their home, Ayodhya. The people of Ayodhya were so happy to see their beloved King return! Since there was no moon that night, the city was dark.
जब जंगल में उनके 14 साल पूरे हो गए, तो राम, सीता और लक्ष्मण अपने घर अयोध्या लौट आए। अयोध्या के लोग अपने प्रिय राजा को वापस देखकर बहुत खुश थे! चूँकि उस रात चाँद नहीं था, इसलिए शहर में अँधेरा था।
To light their way, the people placed thousands of small clay lamps (Diyas) on their roofs, doors, and streets. The entire city glowed with warm, golden light! That is why we light Diyas and celebrate Diwali—to remember the victory of light over darkness.
उनका रास्ता रोशन करने के लिए, लोगों ने अपनी छतों, दरवाजों और सड़कों पर हजारों छोटे मिट्टी के दीये जलाए। पूरा शहर गर्म, सुनहरी रोशनी से चमक उठा! यही कारण है कि हम दीये जलाते हैं और दीवाली मनाते हैं—अंधकार पर प्रकाश की जीत को याद रखने के लिए।
