The Midnight Miracle in the Prison

On a dark, stormy midnight in the city of Mathura, the tyrant King Kansa held his sister Devaki and her husband Vasudeva captive in a heavily barred dungeon, terrified of a prophecy that their eighth son would end his reign of injustice.

As lightning cracked across the ink-black sky on the eighth day of the waning moon in Bhadrapada, baby Krishna was born! The damp stone cell was illuminated by a warm, celestial blue radiance, and miraculous wonders began to unfold.
भाद्रपद मास की कृष्ण पक्ष की अष्टमी की आधी रात को जब बिजली कड़की, तो नन्हे श्रीकृष्ण का जन्म हुआ! वह अंधेरी कोठरी दिव्य नीली रोशनी से जगमगा उठी और अद्भुत चमत्कार होने लगे।
The heavy iron chains slipped from Vasudeva’s wrists, the locked gates swung wide, and the demon guards fell into a deep, enchanted sleep. Carrying the newborn in a wicker basket balanced on his head, Vasudeva walked out into the pouring rain.
वसुदेव के हाथों की बेड़ियां खुल गईं, पहरेदार गहरी नींद में सो गए और जेल के भारी दरवाजे अपने आप खुल गए। नन्हे बालक को टोकरी में रखकर वसुदेव मूसलाधार बारिश में निकल पड़े।
When he reached the raging, swollen river Yamuna, the serpent Sheshanaga formed a multi-headed umbrella to shield baby Krishna from the rain, and the waters parted safely to let them cross into the peaceful village of Gokul.
जब वे उफनती हुई यमुना नदी के तट पर पहुंचे, तो शेषनाग ने बारिश से बचाने के लिए अपने फनों का छत्र बना दिया, और यमुना ने शांत होकर रास्ता दे दिया ताकि वे सुरक्षित गोकुल पहुंच सकें।
The joyful midnight birth of the divine protector is celebrated every year as Janmashtami. Children dress as little Kanha and Radha, swing flower-covered cradles, and form thrilling human pyramids for Dahi Handi, celebrating the triumph of love and righteousness over cruelty.
भगवान श्रीकृष्ण के इसी पावन जन्मोत्सव को हर साल जन्माष्टमी के रूप में मनाया जाता है। बच्चे कान्हा और राधा का रूप धरते हैं, झूले सजाए जाते हैं और दही-हांडी फोड़कर प्रेम व धर्म की विजय का आनंद मनाया जाता है।
