The Secret of the Hurt Cat

One sunny afternoon on Mount Kailash, little Ganesha was playing in the gardens. He saw a small, fluffy cat walking by. Being a naughty child, he started chasing the cat.

कैलाश पर्वत पर एक सुनहरी दोपहर, नन्हे गणेश बगीचे में खेल रहे थे। उन्होंने पास से एक छोटी, मुलायम बिल्ली को गुजरते देखा। एक शरारती बच्चा होने के नाते, वे बिल्ली का पीछा करने लगे।

The cat tried to run away, but Ganesha caught it. He pulled its tail, pushed it around, and even scratched its little ear during his rough play. The poor cat meowed in pain and finally escaped into the bushes.

बिल्ली ने भागने की कोशिश की, लेकिन गणेश ने उसे पकड़ लिया। उन्होंने उसकी पूँछ खींची, उसे इधर-उधर धकेला, और अपने खेल-खेल में उसके छोटे से कान पर खरोंच भी मार दी। बेचारी बिल्ली दर्द से म्याऊँ-म्याऊँ करने लगी और अंत में झाड़ियों में भाग गई।

Ganesha laughed and went inside the palace to see his mother, Mata Parvati. But when he saw her, he stopped in shock. Mata Parvati had a long scratch on her beautiful cheek and a bruise on her arm! She looked like she was in pain.

गणेश हँसे और अपनी माता, माता पार्वती को देखने के लिए महल के अंदर चले गए। लेकिन जब उन्होंने उन्हें देखा, तो वे सदमे में रुक गए। माता पार्वती के सुंदर गाल पर एक लंबी खरोंच थी और उनकी बांह पर चोट का निशान था! ऐसा लग रहा था कि वे दर्द में थीं।

'Mata! Who hurt you?' Ganesha cried out, running to her. 'Tell me their name, and I will punish them!'

'माता! आपको किसने चोट पहुँचाई?' गणेश चिल्लाए और उनके पास दौड़कर गए। 'मुझे उनका नाम बताओ, और मैं उन्हें सजा दूँगा!'

Mata Parvati looked at him with gentle, sad eyes and said, 'My dear son, you are the one who did this to me.'

माता पार्वती ने कोमल, उदास आँखों से उनकी ओर देखा और कहा, 'मेरे प्यारे बेटे, तुम ही हो जिसने मेरे साथ ऐसा किया है।'

Ganesha was confused. 'But Mata, I was playing outside all day. I didn't even touch you!'

गणेश भ्रमित थे। 'लेकिन माता, मैं पूरे दिन बाहर खेल रहा था। मैंने आपको छुआ तक नहीं!'

Parvati explained, 'Do you remember the little cat you were playing with? You pulled its tail and scratched its ear. My child, I live inside every single living being in this universe. When you hurt that innocent cat, you were actually hurting me.'

पार्वती ने समझाया, 'क्या तुम्हें वह छोटी बिल्ली याद है जिसके साथ तुम खेल रहे थे? तुमने उसकी पूँछ खींची और उसके कान पर खरोंच मारी। मेरे बच्चे, मैं इस ब्रह्मांड के हर एक जीवित प्राणी के अंदर रहती हूँ। जब तुमने उस मासूम बिल्ली को चोट पहुँचाई, तो तुम वास्तव में मुझे चोट पहुँचा रहे थे।'

Ganesha's eyes filled with tears. He realized that the whole world is one big family. From that day on, Ganesha became the kindest protector of all animals, big and small.

गणेश की आँखें आँसूओं से भर गईं। उन्हें एहसास हुआ कि पूरी दुनिया एक बड़ा परिवार है। उस दिन से, गणेश बड़े और छोटे सभी जानवरों के सबसे दयालु रक्षक बन गए।
