The Magic Thread of Love

Raksha Bandhan is one of the most beautiful festivals in India. The word 'Raksha' means protection, and 'Bandhan' means a bond or a tie. So, it is the 'Bond of Protection'.

रक्षाबंधन भारत के सबसे खूबसूरत त्योहारों में से एक है। 'रक्षा' शब्द का अर्थ है सुरक्षा, और 'बंधन' का अर्थ है एक बंधन या गांठ। तो, यह 'सुरक्षा का बंधन' है।

On this day, sisters tie a beautiful, colorful thread called a **Rakhi** on their brother's wrist. While tying the thread, the sister prays for her brother's long life and happiness. In return, the brother gives her a gift and makes a very special promise: 'I will always protect you and stand by you, no matter what!'

इस दिन बहनें अपने भाई की कलाई पर **राखी** नाम का एक सुंदर, रंगीन धागा बांधती हैं। धागा बांधते समय बहन अपने भाई की लंबी उम्र और खुशहाली की प्रार्थना करती है। बदले में, भाई उसे एक उपहार देता है और एक बहुत ही खास वादा करता है: 'मैं हमेशा तुम्हारी रक्षा करूँगा और चाहे कुछ भी हो जाए, तुम्हारे साथ खड़ा रहूँगा!'

There are many stories about Raksha Bandhan. One famous story is about Queen Karnavati and Emperor Humayun. When the Queen was in danger, she sent a Rakhi to the Emperor, even though they were from different religions. The Emperor respected the thread so much that he immediately rushed with his army to protect her!

रक्षाबंधन के बारे में कई कहानियाँ हैं। एक प्रसिद्ध कहानी रानी कर्णावती और सम्राट हुमायूँ के बारे में है। जब रानी खतरे में थी, तो उसने सम्राट को एक राखी भेजी, भले ही वे अलग-अलग धर्मों के थे। सम्राट ने उस धागे का इतना सम्मान किया कि वे तुरंत अपनी सेना के साथ उनकी रक्षा के लिए दौड़ पड़े!

It teaches us that a Rakhi is not just a piece of string. It is a symbol of a promise that cannot be broken. It reminds us that we should always take care of our family and protect those who are weaker than us.
