The Dinner That Never Ended

In the celestial city of Alakapuri, Kubera, the treasurer of the gods, strolled through palaces of shimmering gold and diamond arches. His vaults overflowed with precious gems, and his heart was puffed up with immense pride.

स्वर्ग की अलकापुरी नगरी में, देवताओं के कोषाध्यक्ष कुबेर चमकते सोने और हीरों के महलों में टहल रहे थे। उनके खजाने धन-दौलत से भरे थे, और उनका मन भारी अहंकार से फूला हुआ था।

Wishing to show off his unimaginable riches, Kubera decided to host a lavish feast. He traveled to Mount Kailash and grandly invited Lord Shiva and Mata Parvati.

अपनी अथाह दौलत का दिखावा करने के लिए, कुबेर ने एक भव्य दावत का आयोजन किया। वे कैलाश पर्वत पहुंचे और बड़े घमंड से भगवान शिव और माता पार्वती को आमंत्रित किया।

Lord Shiva saw straight through Kubera's boastful vanity. With a calm smile, Shiva said, 'I cannot attend, Kubera, but my little son Ganesha loves good food. Feed him with love, and my blessings are with you.'

भगवान शिव कुबेर के अहंकार को तुरंत भांप गए। उन्होंने शांत मुस्कान के साथ कहा, 'कुबेर, मैं तो नहीं आ सकूंगा, लेकिन मेरा छोटा बेटा गणेश स्वादिष्ट भोजन बहुत पसंद करता है। उसे प्रेम से खिलाओ, मेरा आशीर्वाद तुम्हारे साथ है।'

Kubera puffed his chest out. 'A little boy? I have enough gold and food to feast the entire universe for a thousand years!'

कुबेर ने सीना फुलाकर कहा, 'एक छोटा बालक? मेरे पास इतना अन्न और धन है कि मैं पूरी सृष्टि को हजार साल तक दावत दे सकता हूँ!'

On the feast day, little Ganesha arrived at Alakapuri with a merry smile. Servants brought out silver platters laden with aromatic rice, sweet curries, roasted nuts, and warm rotis. Ganesha ate merrily: Gulp! Crunch! Chomp!

दावत के दिन, छोटे गणेश मुस्कुराते हुए अलकापुरी पहुंचे। सेवकों ने सुगंधित चावल, पकवान, मेवे और गर्म रोटियों से भरी चांदी की थालियां सजा दीं। गणेशजी आनंद से खाने लगे: गप-गप, चट-पट!

Within an hour, all the banquet tables were empty! Kubera ordered his cooks to bring more, but whatever they served, Ganesha finished in seconds. Soon, all the royal kitchens and granaries were stripped bare, but little Ganesha patted his tummy and asked, 'I am still hungry, Kubera Uncle! Is this all the food you have?'

एक घंटे के भीतर सारी मेजें खाली हो गईं! कुबेर ने रसोइयों को और पकाने का आदेश दिया, लेकिन जो कुछ भी आता, गणेशजी पलक झपकते ही समाप्त कर देते। जल्द ही सारे गोदाम और रसोई खाली हो गए, लेकिन छोटे गणेश ने अपने पेट पर हाथ फेरते हुए कहा, 'कुबेर अंकल, मुझे अभी भी भूख लगी है! क्या आपके पास बस इतना ही भोजन था?'

Panic struck Kubera. When Ganesha playfully started nibbling on the golden furniture, Kubera rushed back to Mount Kailash in horror, begging Lord Shiva for help.

कुबेर के हाथ-पांव फूल गए। जब गणेशजी ने खेल-खेल में सोने के बर्तनों और फर्नीचर को चखना शुरू किया, तो कुबेर घबराकर सीधे कैलाश भागे और शिवजी के चरणों में गिर पड़े।

Lord Shiva handed Kubera a tiny handful of roasted puffed rice. 'Give this to Ganesha with genuine love and humility in your heart.'

भगवान शिव ने कुबेर को मुट्ठी भर भुने हुए चावल दिए। 'इसे अपने मन में सच्चे प्रेम और विनम्रता के साथ गणेश को अर्पित करो।'

Trembling, Kubera returned, bowed low before Ganesha, and offered the humble grains with folded hands. Ganesha ate the puffed rice, smiled warmly, and declared his tummy completely full. Kubera bowed in gratitude, understanding that true wealth is humility and love, not mountains of gold.

कांपते हुए कुबेर लौटे, उन्होंने हाथ जोड़कर गणेशजी के आगे सिर झुकाया और वह मुट्ठी भर चावल प्रेम से अर्पित किए। गणेशजी ने चावल खाए, प्यार से मुस्कुराए और कहा कि उनका पेट भर गया है। कुबेर ने समझ लिया कि सच्ची दौलत सोने के ढेर में नहीं, बल्कि मन की विनम्रता और प्रेम में होती है।
