The Secret of the Spilled Water
“How did a small crow help create one of India's most famous rivers? 🐦🌊”
In ancient times, a terrible drought scorched the rolling hills and plains of South India. The summer heat was fierce; wells dried up, crops withered, and people and animals looked toward the cloudless sky with longing.
प्राचीन काल में, दक्षिण भारत की धरती पर भीषण सूखा पड़ा। तेज धूप से नदियां और कुएं सूख गए, फसलें मुरझा गईं, और प्यासे पशु-पक्षी व लोग बादलों की राह देखने लगे।
The venerable Sage Agastya felt deep compassion for the suffering people. Through arduous prayers, he gathered sacred waters in his holy Kamandalu (water pot) and journeyed toward the Brahmagiri hills, seeking the perfect sacred spot to release the water into a perennial river.
दयालु महर्षि अगस्त्य से लोगों का यह दुख देखा नहीं गया। अपनी कठिन तपस्या से उन्होंने अपने कमंडल में पवित्र जल एकत्र किया और एक पावन नदी बहाने के लिए सही स्थान की खोज में ब्रह्मगिरि पर्वत की ओर चल पड़े।
Reaching the mountain crest, Sage Agastya felt weary from his long journey. He placed his water pot carefully on a flat rock and sat beneath a shady tree to enter deep meditation, waiting for divine guidance.
पहाड़ की चोटी पर पहुंचकर महर्षि अगस्त्य थक गए। उन्होंने कमंडल को एक सपाट चट्टान पर सुरक्षित रखा और ईश्वर का मार्गदर्शन पाने के लिए एक छायादार पेड़ के नीचे ध्यानमग्न हो गए।
From above, Lord Ganesha saw the parched earth and knew that the thirsty people could not wait any longer. The life-giving water had to flow immediately!
ऊपर से भगवान गणेश ने सूखी धरती को देखा और समझा कि प्यासे लोगों को अब और इंतजार नहीं कराया जा सकता। इस जीवनदायिनी जल को अभी बहना ही होगा!
Taking the form of a small, sleek black crow, Ganesha fluttered down and perched directly on the rim of the Kamandalu.
गणेशजी ने एक छोटे, काले कौवे का रूप धारण किया, नीचे उड़े और सीधे कमंडल के किनारे पर जाकर बैठ गए।
The sudden weight tipped the water pot, and the holy water cascaded onto the rocky ground! Sage Agastya opened his eyes, startled. Seeing the pot tipped, he initially felt angry and raised his hand to shoo the mischievous crow away.
कौवे के बैठते ही कमंडल का संतुलन बिगड़ा और वह लुढ़क गया—सारा पवित्र जल चट्टान पर बहने लगा! महर्षि अगस्त्य की आंखें खुलीं, और कमंडल को गिरा देखकर वे क्रोधित होकर कौवे को भगाने दौड़े।
The crow hopped back, fluttered its wings, and transformed before the sage's eyes into the radiant, smiling form of little Ganesha.
कौआ थोड़ा पीछे हटा, अपने पंख फड़फड़ाए और पलक झपकते ही मुस्कुराते हुए दिव्य गणेशजी के रूप में प्रकट हो गया।
Sage Agastya bowed low in reverence. And as he looked down the mountain, the spilled water swelled into a magnificent, rushing river of crystal-clear water, winding joyfully through the valleys as the sacred River Kaveri, blessing millions with life and abundance.
महर्षि अगस्त्य ने श्रद्धा से सिर झुका लिया। जब उन्होंने नीचे देखा, तो वह जल रुका नहीं—बल्कि वह विशाल, निर्मल कावेरी नदी बनकर घाटियों में बह निकला, जिससे पूरी धरती हरी-भरी हो गई और लाखों लोगों को नया जीवन मिल गया।
