The Vanara army stood on the southern shores of India, staring across the vast, rolling expanse of the ocean. Huge waves crashed against the jagged cliffs with thunderous roars, and the horizon stretched endlessly without a single speck of land in sight.

Lanka, where the demon king Ravana held Mother Sita captive, lay across one hundred leagues of stormy sea. Strong warriors like Angada and Sugriva sighed in dismay: 'Who among us has the strength to leap across such an impossible ocean and return?'

Sitting quietly in the shade of a rock, away from the chatter, was Hanuman, with his hands folded in silent meditation. The wise elder bear, Jambavan, walked over and looked at him with deep reverence.

'Why do you sit in silence, brave son of the Wind?' Jambavan spoke in a resonant voice. 'You have forgotten your own true nature! As a child, you bounded toward the sun itself. You possess the speed of the wind, the strength of the cosmos, and the grace of the divine. Awaken, Hanuman!'

At those encouraging words, the forgotten memories of Hanuman's divine power surged through his veins like lightning. He stood tall, expanding his form until his head touched the clouds and his shoulders broadened like mountains.

Placing his mighty feet on Mount Mahendra, Hanuman roared 'Jai Shri Ram!' and compressed his knees. With a leap that caused the mountain to tremble, he launched into the sky, soaring across the foaming sea like a blazing meteor of pure faith.

Moral Lesson

“A true friend is someone who reminds you of your own greatness when you feel small.”

Message for Families

The ocean represents the doubts and fears we have in our minds. Hanuman is our breath and vital energy (Prana). When we focus our energy and overcome self-doubt, we can bridge any gap in life.

Life Lessons

1

Never say 'I can't' before you try.

2

Listen to the wise people (like teachers and parents) who believe in you.

3

Your real power is inside your heart, not just in your muscles.

Curious Questions!

Why did Hanuman forget his powers?

When he was a naughty child, he troubled some sages. They gave him a gentle curse that he would forget his powers until someone reminded him of them for a good cause.
