A Token of Promise

In the quiet, sorrowful grove of Ashok Vatika in Lanka, Mother Sita sat beneath the shade of an ashoka tree. Grieving in exile, surrounded by harsh demonesses, she held no hope of rescue, wondering if her beloved Lord Rama knew where she was.

लंका की अशोक वाटिका में, माता सीता एक अशोक के पेड़ की छांव में बैठी थीं। चारों ओर कठोर राक्षसियों का पहरा था और वे अत्यंत दुखी थीं, यह सोचकर कि क्या प्रभु राम को पता भी है कि वे कहाँ हैं।

Perched high among the dense green leaves of the tree was Hanuman. He watched her tearful face with a heavy heart, longing to speak to her. But he knew that if he suddenly appeared, she might mistake him for a demon in disguise using trickery.

उसी पेड़ के घने पत्तों के बीच छिपे हनुमानजी यह सब देख रहे थे। उनका मन माता के दुख को देखकर भर आया। वे बात करना चाहते थे, लेकिन डर था कि कहीं सीताजी उन्हें कोई मायावी राक्षस न समझ बैठें।

Hanuman paused and thought carefully. In a soft, melodious voice, he began to sing the sacred virtues, noble deeds, and sweet history of Lord Rama from the branches above.

हनुमानजी ने युक्ति निकाली। उन्होंने डालियों के बीच से बड़ी मधुर वाणी में भगवान राम के गुणों, उनके पवित्र चरित्र और उनकी कथा का गान करना शुरू कर दिया।

Hearing her husband's beloved name sung with such tender devotion, Sita raised her head in astonishment. 'Who sings of my Rama in this lonely land?' she whispered.

अपने स्वामी की पावन कथा सुनकर सीताजी ने आश्चर्य से सिर उठाया। 'इस पराई भूमि में मेरे राम का इतना सुंदर गुणगान कौन कर रहा है?' उन्होंने विस्मय से पूछा।

At that exact moment, Hanuman reached into his pouch, took out Lord Rama's personal golden signet ring engraved with his sacred name, and gently dropped it down. The ring fell into Sita's lap with a soft musical clink.

उसी समय हनुमानजी ने अपनी झोली से प्रभु राम की दी हुई सोने की मुद्रिका (अंगूठी) निकाली, जिस पर राम नाम अंकित था, और उसे धीरे से नीचे गिरा दिया। वह अंगूठी खनकती हुई सीधे सीताजी की गोद में गिरी।

Sita picked it up with trembling hands. Her eyes filled with tears of profound joy; she recognized her husband's own ring immediately! At that moment, Hanuman climbed down, knelt with folded hands, and bowed his head to the dust: 'Mother, I am Rama's humble messenger. He loves you dearly, and he is coming to rescue you.'

सीताजी ने कांपते हाथों से अंगूठी उठाई। उनकी आंखें खुशी के आंसुओं से भर गईं; उन्होंने अपने पति की अंगूठी तुरंत पहचान ली! तभी हनुमानजी नीचे उतरे और हाथ जोड़कर उनके चरणों में झुक गए: 'माता, मैं प्रभु राम का तुच्छ दास हूँ। वे आपसे बहुत प्रेम करते हैं और जल्द ही आपको लेने आ रहे हैं।'

All her despair dissolved into radiant hope. That tiny golden ring had built an unbreakable bridge of trust, bringing light to the darkest night.

उनका सारा दुख पल भर में आशा में बदल गया। उस छोटी सी सोने की अंगूठी ने विश्वास का ऐसा सेतु बांध दिया था जिसने सबसे अंधेरी रात में भी आशा का दीप जला दिया।
