The Hero Who Never Left Us

After the great war of Ramayana was over, Lord Rama ruled Ayodhya for many, many years. Finally, the time came for Lord Rama to leave the Earth and go back to his heavenly home (Vaikuntha).

रामायण के महान युद्ध की समाप्ति के बाद, भगवान राम ने कई, कई वर्षों तक अयोध्या पर शासन किया। अंततः, भगवान राम के पृथ्वी छोड़ने और अपने स्वर्गीय घर (वैकुंठ) वापस जाने का समय आ गया।

All the monkeys, bears, and citizens who loved Rama wanted to go to heaven with him. Lord Rama invited Hanuman too. He said, 'My dear Hanuman, come with me to heaven. You have served me the most.'

सभी बंदर, भालू और नागरिक जो राम से प्यार करते थे, वे उनके साथ स्वर्ग जाना चाहते थे। भगवान राम ने हनुमान को भी आमंत्रित किया। उन्होंने कहा, 'मेरे प्रिय हनुमान, मेरे साथ स्वर्ग चलो। तुमने मेरी सबसे अधिक सेवा की है।'

But Hanuman folded his hands and smiled. 'My Lord, will people in heaven chant your name and tell the beautiful stories of the Ramayana?'

लेकिन हनुमान ने हाथ जोड़े और मुस्कुराए। 'मेरे भगवान, क्या स्वर्ग में लोग आपके नाम का जाप करेंगे और रामायण की सुंदर कहानियां सुनाएंगे?'

Lord Rama replied, 'No, Hanuman. Heaven is a quiet place of perfect peace. There are no stories or songs there.'

भगवान राम ने उत्तर दिया, 'नहीं, हनुमान। स्वर्ग पूर्ण शांति का एक शांत स्थान है। वहां कोई कहानियां या गीत नहीं हैं।'

Hanuman shook his head. 'Then I do not want to go to heaven! I only want to be in a place where I can hear your name. Please let me stay on Earth as long as the stories of Rama are being told.'

हनुमान ने अपना सिर हिलाया। 'तो मैं स्वर्ग नहीं जाना चाहता! मैं केवल उसी स्थान पर रहना चाहता हूँ जहाँ मैं आपका नाम सुन सकूँ। कृपया मुझे तब तक पृथ्वी पर रहने दें जब तक कि राम की कहानियाँ बताई जा रही हैं।'

Lord Rama was deeply moved by this pure love. He blessed Hanuman with the gift of immortality (becoming a Chiranjivi). It is believed that even today, wherever the Ramayana is read or the name of Rama is chanted, Hanuman is secretly sitting there, listening with joy!

भगवान राम इस शुद्ध प्रेम से बहुत प्रभावित हुए। उन्होंने हनुमान को अमरता (एक चिरंजीवी बनने) का वरदान दिया। ऐसा माना जाता है कि आज भी, जहां कहीं रामायण पढ़ी जाती है या राम के नाम का जाप किया जाता है, वहां हनुमान गुप्त रूप से बैठे होते हैं, खुशी से सुन रहे होते हैं!
