The Gift of the Dancing Peacocks

On a pleasant, breezy afternoon in the flowering groves of Govardhan, young Krishna sat upon a flat rock beneath a blossoming Kadamba tree. Pulling his bamboo flute from his sash, he closed his eyes and began to play a melody so pure and enchanting that all of nature paused to listen.

गोवर्धन पर्वत के पास एक सुहानी दोपहर में, युवा कृष्ण एक कदम के पेड़ के नीचे शिला पर बैठे थे। उन्होंने अपनी बांसुरी निकाली और ऐसी मनमोहक तान छेड़ी कि पूरा वन मूक होकर सुनने लगा।

Deep within the emerald forest, a flock of peacocks heard the celestial music. Entranced by the rhythm, the majestic birds spread their iridescent emerald and sapphire tail feathers, stepping gracefully and dancing in sheer ecstasy around the divine flute player.

घने जंगल में मोरों के एक झुंड ने वह दिव्य संगीत सुना। उस धुन पर मुग्ध होकर, मोरों ने अपने हरे और नीले पंख फैला लिए और कृष्ण के चारों ओर भावविभोर होकर नाचने लगे।

The King of the Peacocks was overwhelmed by the sweetness of the melody. Stepping forward with deep reverence, the majestic bird bowed low before Krishna. With great devotion, he shed a single, radiant peacock feather from his plumage and placed it as a humble offering at the Lord's feet.

मोरों का राजा उस संगीत से इतना आनंदित हुआ कि उसने आगे बढ़कर कृष्ण के आगे सिर झुका दिया। अत्यंत श्रद्धा से उसने अपने पंखों से गिरा हुआ एक सुंदर, चमकदार मोरपंख कृष्ण के पावन चरणों में भेंट कर दिया।

'Lord,' the peacock whispered, 'we are simple birds of the forest. We have neither gold nor jewels to offer. Accept this humble feather from my heart as our token of eternal gratitude.'

'हे प्रभु,' मोर ने विनीत भाव से कहा, 'हम तो वन के साधारण पक्षी हैं। हमारे पास आपको देने के लिए सोना-चांदी नहीं है। हमारे इस छोटे से मोरपंख को हमारे प्रेम का उपहार समझकर स्वीकार करें।'

Krishna smiled with boundless delight. Bending down, he lifted the iridescent feather with tender reverence and tucked it into his golden hair crown. 'Because this feather was given with selfless love, it shall remain higher than all jewels upon my crown forever,' Krishna proclaimed.

कृष्ण खुशी से मुस्कुराए। उन्होंने झुककर उस मोरपंख को आदर से उठाया और अपने मुकुट में सबसे ऊपर सजा लिया। 'चूंकि यह पंख तुमने निस्वार्थ प्रेम से दिया है, इसलिए यह मेरे मुकुट के सभी हीरों से ऊपर हमेशा शोभा पाएगा,' कृष्ण ने कहा।

From that day on, Lord Krishna is known as Mor Mukut Dhari. The shimmering feather reminds every child that God does not look for expensive gifts—He is enchanted only by simple, sincere offerings of love.

उस दिन से भगवान कृष्ण मोरमुकुटधारी कहलाए। यह सुंदर मोरपंख हमें सिखाता है कि ईश्वर को महंगे उपहार नहीं, बल्कि सच्चे और निस्वार्थ प्रेम की छोटी सी भेंट भी सबसे ज्यादा प्रिय होती है।
