The Miracle of the Golden Bowl

King Dasharatha was a great and kind ruler of Ayodhya, but he was very sad because he had no children to take care of his kingdom after him. He decided to perform a very special holy prayer called the 'Putrakameshti Yagna'.

राजा दशरथ अयोध्या के एक महान और दयालु शासक थे, लेकिन वे बहुत दुखी थे क्योंकि उनके बाद उनके राज्य की देखभाल करने के लिए उनके पास कोई संतान नहीं थी। उन्होंने 'पुत्रकामेष्टि यज्ञ' नामक एक विशेष पवित्र प्रार्थना करने का निर्णय लिया।

As the prayer finished, a glowing, divine figure (Agni Dev) emerged from the holy fire. He was holding a golden bowl filled with magical rice pudding (**Payasam**). 'Give this to your wives,' the divine being said, 'and you will have brave and wise sons.'

प्रार्थना समाप्त होते ही, पवित्र अग्नि से एक चमकती हुई, दिव्य आकृति (अग्नि देव) प्रकट हुई। उन्होंने जादुई चावल की खीर (**पायसम**) से भरा एक सोने का कटोरा पकड़ रखा था। दिव्य प्राणी ने कहा, 'इसे अपनी पत्नियों को दो, और तुम्हारे पास बहादुर और बुद्धिमान पुत्र होंगे।'

The King was overjoyed! He gave the bowl to his three queens—Kausalya, Kaikeyi, and Sumitra. They shared the sweet payasam with love and happiness. Soon, the palace was filled with the sound of baby laughter!

राजा बहुत खुश हुए! उन्होंने यह कटोरा अपनी तीन रानियों- कौशल्या, कैकेयी और सुमित्रा को दिया। उन्होंने बड़े प्रेम और खुशी के साथ मीठे पायसम को आपस में साझा किया। जल्द ही, महल बच्चों की हँसी की आवाज़ से भर गया!

Queen Kausalya gave birth to Lord Rama. Queen Kaikeyi gave birth to Bharata. And Queen Sumitra, who had received two shares of the payasam, gave birth to twins—Lakshmana and Shatrughna. The four brothers grew up to be the best of friends, always protecting and loving each other.

रानी कौशल्या ने भगवान राम को जन्म दिया। रानी कैकेयी ने भरत को जन्म दिया। और रानी सुमित्रा, जिन्हें पायसम के दो हिस्से मिले थे, ने दो जुड़वां बच्चों—लक्ष्मण और शत्रुघ्न को जन्म दिया। चारों भाई सबसे अच्छे दोस्त बन कर बड़े हुए, हमेशा एक-दूसरे की रक्षा करते और प्यार करते थे।
