The Shiny Trap in the Forest

In the peaceful forest of Panchavati, Lord Rama, Mother Sita, and Lakshmana lived in a quiet thatched cottage beside the murmuring waters of the Godavari river. Colorful parrots nested in the trees, and gentle deer grazed peacefully near the veranda.

पंचवटी के शांत जंगल में, भगवान राम, माता सीता और लक्ष्मण गोदावरी नदी के किनारे घास-फूस की एक सुंदर कुटिया में रहते थे। पेड़ों पर तोते चहकते थे और हिरण कुटिया के पास आकर घास चरते थे।

One afternoon, a magical creature stepped out from the dense green grove. It was a deer unlike any seen before on earth—its skin shone with the brilliance of pure gold, its hooves gleamed like jet-black onyx, and its velvet antlers sparkled with precious sapphire gems.

एक दोपहर, घने जंगल से एक जादुई जीव बाहर निकला। वह एक ऐसा हिरण था जैसा धरती पर पहले कभी नहीं देखा गया था—उसकी त्वचा शुद्ध सोने की तरह चमक रही थी, खुर काले पत्थरों जैसे थे और सींगों पर नीलमणि जैसे रत्न चमक रहे थे।

The golden deer leaped playfully through the sunlit grass, stopping to look at Mother Sita with captivating eyes. Enchanted by its dazzling beauty, Sita smiled: 'Look, Rama! What a marvelous, celestial creature! Could you capture it gently so we may care for it?'

वह सोने का हिरण धूप खिली घास पर मस्ती से उछल रहा था और सीताजी को अपनी ओर आकर्षित कर रहा था। उसकी अनोखी सुंदरता देखकर सीताजी मोहित हो गईं: 'प्रभु, देखिये कितना अद्भुत हिरण है! क्या आप इसे जीवित पकड़ सकते हैं ताकि हम इसे पाल सकें?'

Lakshmana watched carefully with a furrowed brow. 'Brother, no animal of solid gold exists in nature. It smells of demonic illusion (Maya) sent by Ravana to lure us away.'

लक्ष्मण ने संदेह से देखते हुए कहा, 'भैया, इस संसार में कोई भी जीव सोने का नहीं होता। यह अवश्य रावण की कोई मायावी चाल है जो हमें भटकाने के लिए रची गई है।'

Rama smiled knowingly. 'If it is an illusion created by demons, Lakshmana, it must be ended to protect the forest sages. Guard Sita with your life; I shall return shortly.'

राम सब समझ गए और मुस्कुराए। 'लक्ष्मण, यदि यह राक्षसों की माया है, तो ऋषियों की रक्षा के लिए इसका अंत आवश्यक है। तुम कुटिया पर रहकर सीता की रक्षा करो, मैं अभी लौटता हूँ।'

Rama pursued the swift creature through the forest glades. When struck by Rama’s arrow, the deer shed its golden form and revealed the fierce demon Mareecha, calling out with his dying breath. This story reminds children that things that glitter like gold on the outside can often be traps, and true wisdom lies in looking beneath surface appearances.

राम उस तेज हिरण के पीछे गए। जब राम का बाण लगा, तो उस हिरण ने अपना मायावी रूप त्याग दिया और वह मारीच राक्षस निकला। यह कहानी हमें सिखाती है कि बाहर से सोने जैसी चमकने वाली हर चीज अच्छी नहीं होती, और हमें बाहरी चमक-दमक के बहकावे में कभी नहीं आना चाहिए।
