The Stone That Came to Life

Long ago, beside the sacred river flowing near the ashram of Sage Gautama, an eerie silence hung over the grove. Abandoned for centuries, the hermitage was overgrown with thick vines, dry leaves, and thorn bushes. In the center of the courtyard sat a solitary, cold gray stone, dusted by decades of wind and fallen leaves.

बहुत समय पहले, महर्षि गौतम के आश्रम के पास बहती नदी के तट पर एक गहरा सन्नाटा पसरा हुआ था। सदियों से सुनसान पड़ा वह आश्रम घनी लताओं और कांटों से घिर चुका था। उस आंगन के बीचों-बीच एक ठंडी, बेजान ग्रे रंग की शिला रखी थी, जिस पर धूल और सूखे पत्तों की परतें जमी हुई थीं।

The stone was once Ahalya, the virtuous wife of Sage Gautama. Due to a tragic misunderstanding and deception, a fierce curse had turned her form into inert stone, sentencing her to remain trapped in cold silence for thousands of years, invisible to the world, waiting for the advent of divine grace.

वह पत्थर वास्तव में माता अहल्या थीं। एक बड़े छल और गलतफहमी के कारण मिले कठोर श्राप से वे पत्थर बन गई थीं। वे हजारों वर्षों से उस ठंडे पत्थर में कैद होकर, संसार से अदृश्य रहकर, केवल प्रभु की कृपा का इंतजार कर रही थीं।

One morning, the revered Sage Vishwamitra led Prince Rama and Lakshmana into the overgrown hermitage. Pointing his staff toward the neglected boulder, Vishwamitra recounted Ahalya’s heartbreaking tale: 'Rama, this purified soul has endured penance for centuries in sorrow. Only the dust of your sacred lotus feet can liberate her.'

एक सुबह, महर्षि विश्वामित्र राजकुमार राम और लक्ष्मण को उस प्राचीन आश्रम में ले आए। उस उपेक्षित शिला की ओर संकेत करते हुए विश्वामित्र ने अहल्या की करुण गाथा सुनाई: 'हे राम, इस पावन आत्मा ने सदियों तक पश्चाताप की अग्नि सही है। केवल तुम्हारे पावन चरणों की रज ही इन्हें मुक्ति दे सकती है।'

Rama felt deep compassion stir within his heart. Approaching with gentle reverence, Rama walked past the cold rock. As the wind stirred, a tiny speck of dust from his lotus feet touched the surface of the stone.

प्रभु राम के हृदय में अपार करुणा उमड़ पड़ी। वे आदरपूर्वक उस पत्थर के पास से गुजरे। हवा के एक झोंके से उनके चरण कमलों की थोड़ी सी पावन धूल उस शिला से छू गई।

Instantly, a warm golden aura burst forth from the rock! The cold stone dissolved like mist, and in its place stood Mother Ahalya, radiant, graceful, and alive, bathed in celestial light.

छूते ही उस पत्थर से एक दिव्य सुनहरी रोशनी फूट पड़ी! वह कठोर चट्टान पिघल गई और उसके स्थान पर माता अहल्या जीवित होकर प्रकट हो गईं, जिनका मुख तेज से चमक रहा था।

With tears streaming down her cheeks, Ahalya bowed low at Lord Rama’s feet: 'Glory to you, Redeemer of the Fallen! Your touch has healed centuries of darkness and restored my soul.'

आंखों में खुशी के आंसू लिए अहल्या ने प्रभु राम के चरणों में सिर झुका दिया: 'हे पतित-पावन, आपकी जय हो! आपके स्पर्श ने मेरे सदियों के अंधकार को मिटाकर मेरे जीवन को धन्य कर दिया।'

Rama bowed back with folded hands, treating her with the dignity of an elder mother. This miraculous moment proved that no matter how burdened or forgotten someone feels, divine compassion can shatter the hardest stone and bring life back to the soul.

राम ने भी हाथ जोड़कर उन्हें एक माता के समान आदर दिया। इस पावन प्रसंग ने दिखाया कि कोई भी इंसान कितना भी उपेक्षित या दुखी क्यों न हो, ईश्वर की दया सबसे कठोर पत्थर को भी पिघलाकर जीवन में उजाला भर सकती है।
