The Greatest Devotee in the World

While searching through the dense, sunlit valleys of the southern forests for Mother Sita, Lord Rama and Lakshmana reached the base of Mount Rishyamukha. Perched high upon the craggy peaks, Sugriva, the exiled king of the Vanaras, watched the two armed warriors approach with great anxiety.

माता सीता की खोज में दक्षिण के जंगलों से गुजरते हुए, भगवान राम और लक्ष्मण ऋष्यमूक पर्वत की तलहटी में पहुंचे। पर्वत की चोटी पर बैठे वानरराज सुग्रीव ने दो तेजस्वी धनुर्धारियों को आते देखा, तो वे भयभीत हो गए कि कहीं उनके भाई वाली ने उन्हें मारने के लिए दूत तो नहीं भेजे।

Sugriva turned to his wisest counselor, Hanuman. 'Go, Hanuman. Disguise yourself and find out who these two glowing archers are. If they are enemies sent by my brother Vali, warn us at once.'

सुग्रीव ने अपने सबसे बुद्धिमान साथी हनुमान से कहा, 'हे हनुमान, तुम भेष बदलकर जाओ और पता लगाओ कि ये दोनों वीर कौन हैं। यदि वे वाली के भेजे हुए गुप्तचर हैं, तो तुरंत मुझे सावधान करना।'

Hanuman assumed the gentle form of a learned young Brahmin scholar and walked down the mountain path. Approaching Rama and Lakshmana, Hanuman greeted them with palms pressed together, speaking in words so refined, sweet, and pure that Rama was immediately captivated.

हनुमानजी ने एक युवा ब्राह्मण का शांत रूप धारण किया और नीचे उतरे। राम और लक्ष्मण के पास आकर उन्होंने हाथ जोड़कर प्रणाम किया और इतनी मधुर, संस्कृत व पवित्र वाणी में बात की कि राम उनके ज्ञान और शिष्टता पर मोहित हो गए।

'Noble princes,' Hanuman inquired softly, 'with feet like lotus petals and chests like lions, why do you walk barefoot in this thorny forest? Your radiant forms belong in golden palaces, yet you walk with sorrow in your eyes.'

'हे श्रेष्ठ वीरों,' हनुमानजी ने विनम्रता से पूछा, 'कमल जैसे कोमल चरणों और सिंह जैसे चौड़े सीने के साथ आप इस कंटीले जंगल में नंगे पांव क्यों घूम रहे हैं? आपका रूप तो महलों में पूजे जाने योग्य है, फिर आपकी आंखों में यह उदासी कैसी?'

Rama smiled and whispered to Lakshmana, 'Listen to his speech, brother! Not a single flaw or pride exists in his words. Only one who has mastered the four Vedas can speak with such boundless grace and wisdom.'

राम ने मुस्कुराकर लक्ष्मण से कहा, 'भाई, इनकी वाणी सुनो! इनके एक भी शब्द में कोई अशुद्धि या अहंकार नहीं है। जिसने चारों वेदों का ज्ञान पाया हो, वही ऐसी अद्भुत और विनीत वाणी बोल सकता है।'

When Rama revealed his identity and spoke of his search for Sita, a wave of profound recognition washed over Hanuman. Shedding his disguise, Hanuman dropped to his knees, tears of ecstasy streaming down his face: 'My Lord! My Master! I have waited lifetimes to serve you!'

जब राम ने अपना परिचय दिया और सीताजी की खोज की बात बताई, तो हनुमानजी के भीतर एक दिव्य प्रकाश कौंध उठा। उन्होंने अपना ब्राह्मण रूप त्याग दिया और दोनों हाथ जोड़कर प्रभु राम के चरणों में गिर पड़े: 'मेरे प्रभु! मेरे स्वामी! मैं जन्मों से आपकी सेवा की प्रतीक्षा कर रहा था!'

Rama lifted Hanuman with both hands, embracing him tightly against his chest. That sacred encounter formed an eternal bond of love and brotherhood that would illuminate the history of the world forever.

प्रभु राम ने दोनों हाथों से हनुमान को उठाया और अपने सीने से लगा लिया। उस पावन मिलन ने प्रेम और भक्ति का ऐसा अमर बंधन बांध दिया जो युगों-युगों तक संसार को दिशा दिखाता रहेगा।
