The Secret of the Blue Throat
“Why is the throat of the Great Mahadev blue in color? 🌏💙”
A long time ago, the Gods (Devas) and the Demons (Asuras) were working together to churn the massive Ocean of Milk. They wanted to find the 'Amrit'—the magical nectar that would make them immortal.
बहुत समय पहले, देवता और असुर मिलकर क्षीर सागर का मंथन कर रहे थे। वे 'अमृत' पाना चाहते थे—वह जादुई रस जो उन्हें अमर बना दे।
They used a giant mountain as a stirrer and the King of Serpents, Vasuki, as a rope. But as they churned the ocean, something unexpected happened. Before the Amrit could come out, a terrifying, dark blue poison emerged. This was the **Halahala**, the deadliest poison in the universe!
उन्होंने मथनी के रूप में एक विशाल पर्वत और रस्सी के रूप में नागराज वासुकी का उपयोग किया। लेकिन जैसे ही उन्होंने समुद्र का मंथन किया, कुछ अप्रत्याशित हुआ। अमृत निकलने से पहले, एक भयानक, गहरा नीला जहर निकला। यह **हलाहल** था, ब्रह्मांड का सबसे घातक जहर!
The poison was so strong that its fumes started choking everyone. The ocean began to boil, and the world was about to be destroyed. Everyone ran to Lord Shiva, the only one who could handle such a disaster.
ज़हर इतना तेज़ था कि उसके धुएं से सबका दम घुटने लगा। समुद्र उबलने लगा और दुनिया नष्ट होने ही वाली थी। हर कोई भगवान शिव के पास भागा, जो अकेले ही ऐसी आपदा को संभाल सकते थे।
Lord Shiva, out of his great love for the universe, decided to drink the poison. He gathered the dark liquid in his palm and swallowed it! But his wife, Goddess Parvati, was worried. She quickly placed her hand on his throat to stop the poison from going down into his stomach.
भगवान शिव ने ब्रह्मांड के प्रति अपने अपार प्रेम के कारण जहर पीने का फैसला किया। उन्होंने काले तरल को अपनी हथेली में इकट्ठा किया और उसे पी लिया! लेकिन उनकी पत्नी देवी पार्वती चिंतित थीं। उन्होंने जहर को उनके पेट में जाने से रोकने के लिए जल्दी से अपना हाथ उनके गले पर रख दिया।
The poison stayed in Shiva's throat, turning it a deep, beautiful blue. It didn't hurt him, but it left a permanent mark. Because of this, Lord Shiva is known as **Neelkanth**, which means 'The One with the Blue Throat'.
ज़हर शिव के गले में ही रह गया, जिससे वह गहरा, सुंदर नीला हो गया। इससे उन्हें कोई नुकसान नहीं हुआ, लेकिन इसने एक स्थायी निशान छोड़ दिया। इस कारण से, भगवान शिव को **नीलकंठ** के रूप में जाना जाता है, जिसका अर्थ है 'नीले गले वाला'।

Message for Families
The ocean represents our mind, and the churning represents our struggles. Before we find peace (Amrit), our negative thoughts and anger (Halahala) often come out. Like Shiva, we must learn to contain our anger in our throat (speak carefully) and not let it enter our heart or stomach.
